Carbon Forestry in New Zealand
Carbon Market Solutions Ltd invested in the Craigmore Sustainable Forestry Fund back at the end of 2011. We exited the investment in 2019. The investment in forestry in New Zealand benefits from an additional return from carbon credits / New Zealand Units (NZUs). Building on our experience with investing in carbon forestry in New Zealand we are now exploring various investments in carbon forestry in New Zealand in the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS).

Mangroves in Fiji
A mangrove sequestration project is also called a blue carbon project. Mangroves sequester approximately 3-4 times as much carbon as regular trees. There are around 65,000 hectares of mangroves in Fiji, many of which have been degraded due to anthropenic activity and from tropical cyclones. Both conservation and mangrove restoration activities have great potential at scale to sequester significant amounts of CO2, creating jobs for local communities, helping restore vital ecosystems and help significantly with climate change mitigation and sequestration.
